A very big thank you to the Sardis Secondary School and their gardeners for the generous donation of the harvest of their garden to the food bank.
Since losing a good amount of my pension, the food bank pantry has sustained me. It is a delight to go in and find rows of a variety of vegetables for the taking provided by SSS. This elderly lady thanks you. I will cook up a wonderful pan of good healthy food on Saturday which is my day to have a good noon meal.
Of interest, I am a horticulture major from UFV and Kwantlen Polytechnique University. While growing field vegetables was /is not my major I have completed courses in vegetable growing, therefore recognize a good product.
One would be remiss if they did not also thank the food stores, greenhouse growers, bakeries that also contribute to the food bank and farmers. I often recognize brands.
Going to a food bank is a new experience for me and as a senior I encourage other seniors to consider this avenue of sustenance. Many seniors do without. Thank you to the kind and caring volunteers at the Salvation Army who monitor Chilliwack's food bank pantry.
A positive experience all around,
Georgia Kirkpatrick
