How sad it was to see the hate filled vandalism in the multi-coloured pedestrian crossing at the south entrance to Walmart today.

Is it any wonder that the gay community still views the progress made in creating a tolerant, caring, understanding and loving community for all, while moving in the right direction, obviously still has a long way to go. The can of white paint spilt on the crosswalk then spread inadvertently by passing cars, is a visceral image of intolerance, ignorance and hatred.

Sadly, this is not the first rainbow crosswalk I have seen vandalized. I would hope that anyone with information on the perpetrators of this criminal act will come forward.

We don’t need this kind of behaviour here in Chilliwack or anywhere else.
