LETTER: Natural gas bills make no sense to this Chilliwack customer

Breaking down your Fortis bill shows what we 'unwittingly' pay for in B.C.

I am bringing something remarkable to the attention of my fellow inhabitants of this community.

As every one, I assume that most households in Chilliwack receive a monthly bill for the use of natural gas.

Every month it is a complete surprise to me, what I am being charged for. As a for instance the December 2024 bill with $34.57 for the cost of the gas, which of course sounds reasonable, then $12.23 for basic charge, (which covers part of the cost of being connected to the system). OK!

For this month of December I was also charged with a total of $117.64 for delivery. DELIVERY? I often wonder how many people are working hard to get me $35 dollar of gas for a delivery and transport cost of over $117.

We have been connected to the system for over 35 years.

I have only seen a meter reader (and they are planning even to cut him out). That is not all I am being charged for, the cost of storage and transport $21.58 (it at all applicable, should not that be part of delivery cost?)

It looks to me that the population is being milked for very penny they are (unwittingly) willing to pay. For years we have been charged with carbon tax without a valid reasoned cause. Would it not be time that the enormous amount of avalaible natural gas in B.C. be delivered to our doorstep at reasonable cost?
