In a world where it’s easy to take essential workers for granted, our family would like to take a pause and extend our sincerest gratitude to the Chilliwack Ambulance Service First Responders and the Staff at Chilliwack General Hospital (emergency department, ambulatory overflow, third floor north, fouth floor surgery).
We know hospitals and ambulance services everywhere are stretched thin – staffing shortages, long hours, and emotional strain are all very real burdens. Our community is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated professionals who continue to show up, give their best, and care for others with unwavering compassion.
This past two months our family witnessed these heroes at work on numerous occasions and we’d like to acknowledge all of them for the extraordinary care they provided our father during his final days.
From the moment he was admitted, we witnessed a level of compassion, skill and attentiveness that brought us great comfort during an incredibly difficult time. The nurses were not only professional and knowledgeable but also deeply kind – treating him as a person, not just a patient.
We’d also like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Botha for consistently keeping us informed and for his authenticity and kindness. When our dad was most vulnerable Dr. Botha always made him feel at ease, which brought such peace of mind to all of us.
The first responders, nurses, doctors, and support staff who cared for our dad are true heroes. Their actions didn’t just help ease his passing – they left a lasting impression on our entire family. We are forever grateful.
