Today (after checking the new schedule incorrectly), I dropped in at the Landing pool only to find the adult pool and hot tub area was closing. Half the adults were leaving, and the other half went to the kid’s pool and warm bubble tub (no bubbles today). School started today with maybe two kids and two parents using the area. Lots of lifeguards and YMCA staff on duty? Why open the kid’s side during school hours and shut down the adult pool?

Revised schedules require people to navigate the reduced hours of the pools. The YMCA reduces operating expenses by limiting the use of our taxpayer-funded facilities. An example of this was when the Cheam facility was closed for maintenance (Aug 10 - Sept.6). I strongly doubt all this time wasn’t needed for actual maintenance but to give staff forced vacation time and save costs. It is time to find a new group to take over the management contract for the Chilliwack Leisure Centres, when the contract comes up for renewal.
