It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Zwaantje Edens. She was 80 years old, born on February 16, 1929 in Wieringen, Netherlands. She passed away peacefully after a very courageous battle with cancer, at home, on December 28, 2009.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family, Daughter Wobbina Peacock, Son Ed (Glennis) Edens, and Grandchildren Teresa, Richard (Willow), Larry and Andrew Peacock, Cori Mitchell, Randy (Samantha) VanderWyk, Tomasz Czerwinski, Beverley (Clarke) Thomson, Valerie Edens, Heidi (Rob) Hilliard and very special great-grandsons Hayden and Chase Thomson.
She is also survived by her sister Fenny Edens in Holland, brother Tony (Bertha) Boven in Mexico and sister in law Harmke Jasper in Holland and many extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased on January 1st of this year by her husband of 60 years, Aaldrik Edens. She was also predeceased by her parents Heino and Wobbina Boven.
Zwaantje came to Canada with her husband, Aldrik and children, Eddie and Wobbina in 1953. They moved to the Fraser Valley and have lived here ever since. The most important people in her life was her family. She loved and cherished each and every grandchild. Spoiling them many times over. She was also a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook and bake. Well know for her Cherry Cheesecakes. She was very good at doing handiwork. No one could ever keep up to her knitting and crocheting. Her hands never stayed still till October of this year. She was also a proud member of the Golden Age Club. Loved being around the people and singing the hymns. Her strong faith showed through and kept her going.
A viewing will be held, Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 for family and friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Chapel at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack, Reverend Carel Geleynse officiating. Burial will be held at Chilliwack Cemeteries following the service. Afterwards nourishments will be served in The Tea Room at Henderson’s.
Pallbearers are Teresa Peacock, Richard Peacock, Larry Peacock, Andrew Peacock, Willow Walker, Randy VanderWyk, Cori Mitchell and Tomasz Czerwinski.
