Wulfort van de Lagemaat
With sorrow we announce the passing away of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Wulfert van de Lagemaat, on Monday, July 10, 2017, in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, at the age of 80 years. Wulf was born June 23, 1937, in Renswoude, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1954. He lived in Port Alberni, Vancouver Island until 1970, at which time he moved to Chilliwack and married Sue. He worked as an appraiser for the B.C. Assessment Authority until retirement in 2000. He lived on a 5-acre hobby farm on Yale Road for 32 years, moved briefly to Bell Road, then spent his final years at Sunset Manor. He was an excellent provider and a true example of “the tender love a father has.” He is survived by his loving wife, Henrietta (Sue), sons Ted (Gwen), Louie (fiancée Marjory), Dan (Ruth); brothers Martin (Esther) and John (Ina); sister Corrie (Lionel); and four grandchildren - Joshua, Nicholas, Leah, and Garret. Wulf was predeceased by his parents, Tymen and Evertje van de Lagemaat. The funeral service was held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm, at the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Church. Interment was at Chilliwack Cemeteries. Wiebe & Jeske Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
