August 2, 1946 – July 14, 2012

Wolfgang Peter Scholz passed away peacefully at the age of 65 surrounded by his loving family on July 14, 2012 at Cascade Hospice after a short battle with cancer. Wolfgang was born August 2, 1946 in Salzgitter-Gebhardshagen, Germany and with his parents and brother came to Canada in 1953. The family lived in the Kootneys where his father worked in the mines and then moved to Yarrow, BC.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Judy of 46 years; his three daughters, Cindy Lyftogt, Rebecca (Kelly) Heibner and Vicky (Kevin) Heibner; grandchildren Liam Biggs, Loren, Ethan & Kaitlyn Lyftogt, Sydney & Jaden Heibner, Korissa, Karaline, Kole, Koralee Heibner and great granddaughter Peyton Biggs. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Anna Scholz, sister Rosel Nemethy, brother Rudy Scholz and brother-in-law Tibor Nemethy.

Over the years, Wolfgang worked at Rosedale Machine Shop, Chilliwack Cablevision and BC Corrections (D.A.S.H. Program). For the past 23 years he was the owner and operator of Son’s of Thunder Motorcycle Shop. Building and repairing motorcycles was something he excelled at, particularly the old Harleys. His community involvements included Boy Scouts, Chilliwack Search & Rescue, and 35 years as an RCMP Auxiliary Police Officer. He loved the outdoors and climbed all the local mountain peaks, rock climbing, canoeing and camping, was a member of the Fraser Valley Frontiersmen Blackpowder Club and past director of Chilliwack Fish & Game Association. He was a re-enactor at Ft. Langley Historic Park on Fur Brigade weekends and also belonged to the Washington State Civil War Association. Wolfgang regularly attended the Chilliwack Alliance Church and helped run the spot lights for Christmas productions. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Graham, Palliative Care Nurses and staff at the Cascade Hospice for their kind care and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 1:00 pm at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road, Chilliwack. Donations in memory of Wolfgang may be made to Chilliwack Hospice Society.
