William Vaughan 'Bill' Dowland

October 13, 1930 - October 3, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Dowland announce his passing on October 3, 2022 in Chilliwack at Valleyhaven Care Home. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 13, 1930 and grew up on a farm in Rivers, Manitoba where he developed a lifelong love of animals.
Forever remembered by wife and best friend of 68 years Norma Dowland (nee Dunn) and children, Sandra Smeds (Michael Pixner), Deborah Dowland (John Neufeld), Shelley Arnold ( Dale Arnold ) and grandchildren Kris Smeds (Julianne Troyer ) and Erika Arnold, as well as great grandson Remy Vaughn.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Mary and William Dowland and grandson Kane Arnold.
Bill was a successful salesman for Alfred Lambert Canada selling everything from shoes to skates.
Bill had a great love for travel and enjoyed trips to Maui, Mexico, the UK, many road and fishing trips and cruises with friends and family.
He spent his summers in the garden and in his beach chair at his favourite camping spots as well as time on Pender Island and at Madeira Park.
In his spare time Bill enjoyed woodworking, golfing, curling, reading and watching his grandson Kris in ball tournaments. Bill played with ANAF Vets Softball Team from 1953-1957 and is in the Sports Hall of Fame in Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Parkinson's Society.
A memorial service will be held October 22nd, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack.
