“Jim”

(Dec 3rd 1938 – July 12th 2008)

We are sad to announce the passing of Jim Coish, age 75. Jim was born in New Waterford, C.B., N.S. He was the seventh child of a family of 12, born to Louise (Rose) and William James (Bill) Coish, previously of Ochre Pit Cove N.L. He was the father of David (Shayni and Lily), Katherine (Jim, Joshua, Rachel, Abigail, Naomi and Beulah), and Sonya (Jamie, Jessica and Brendan). Jim was a coal miner (like his two brothers and father) for a short period than after a 4-year automotive apprenticeship, he joined the R.C.Engineers in 1957 doing his basic training in C.F.B. Chilliwack. He served 14 months in Golan Heights returning home in 1959. He met his wife Margaret in 1960 and they were married September 8th 1962. In 1964, Jim transferred to R.C.E.M.E. and spent 2 tours in Germany, 64-67, and 74-78. He served in Currie Barracks, Calgary, Alta., and in 1979 transferred to C.F.B. Chilliwack and retired in 1981 as a M.W.O.

Jim loved crossword puzzles, golfing, curling, bridge, fishing, and hunting. He especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He and Margaret had been married for 45 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, 5 sisters, and 1 brother.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
