1927-2006
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of a caring, gentle, family man. He was born February 22, 1927 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his father, Harold Ackerman, mother, Violet Edith Ackerman and brother, Harold Ackerman.
He is survived by his loving wife Faye, four children, Edith (Lorne) Anderson, Bill (Gayle) Ackerman; Patty Gauthier (Phil), Al (Darlene) Ackerman; three stepchildren, Pat (Dalzell); Gail (Wayne) Harris, Tom Dalzell. Also, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Jack first enlisted in 1944 and then re-enlisted in RCAF in 1953 where he served for 28 years. After moving to Chase in 1981 he drove bus for District 24 and also worked fro the parks board. He is a life member of RCL #107 Chase and was very involved.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the many friends who have supported them with their love and kindness. Special thanks to Dr. Kolkind, palliative care and all the staff at Interior Heath for the wonderful care given to Jack.
A memorial service, in celebration of Jack’s life, will be held Thursday, August 17 at at 1:30pm, Chase Community Hall. Luncheon and gathering to follow at Chase Legion.
