1938-2020 ~ Sadly we announce the sudden passing of our dad, brother, son and friend, William Duckworth (Bill) on Oct.16, 2020, age 82.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Grant and Sharon (Jason); his only grandson, Matthew Harmsen; former wife Elizabeth Young and cherished friend, Sylvia Dilworth.
He was predeceased by his sister, Linda, his parents Jack and Verna, uncle Fred, aunt Grace, and his nephews, Greg and Rob.
Bill was born and raised in Brantford, Ont. He lived there until he joined the RCMP detachment in 1959. Shortly after RCMP training he was transferred to the west coast. He quickly made his way from Constable to Sargeant during his 28 years in the force.
After retiring from the RCMP in 1987, he chose another career path and took a position with a Provincial Crown Corporation called British Columbia Buildings Corp. where he was in charge of security and property management before retiring in 2002.
Bill was a loyal and quiet man but had a wicked sense of humour. He always enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with friends and family. He was an active member of the Kings Links Golf Club for many years and chased a little white ball around big patches of grass at least 3-4 times a week.
Bill was a very respected man by all who knew him, especially the members of his detachment. He had contact with many during his retirement to attend luncheons, golf tournaments and veterans meetings as much as he could. He truly valued these friendships and spoke about them often.
He is survived by his brother, Bob (Winnie) and sister Diane.
Special thanks to Leo, Harry & Glenn who were always available to give him a hand.
There will be no service at this time. Rest in peace dad.
