“Mien”

It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved mother, oma and great-oma Wilhelmiena Both suddenly passed away into the presence of her Lord on November 21, 2010 at her home, at the age of 92 years.

Wilhelmiena was born in Zevenhuizen, the Netherlands, on December 22, 1917. On May 19, 1942 she married Teunis “Ted” Both, and in June 1958, they immigrated to Canada with their family of four children. They settled in Chilliwack. Their dream of owning their own farm finally became reality in the spring of 1969 when they bought a farm on Carey Rd.

Wilhelmiena loved farm life and worked tirelessly beside her husband and in her home, always cooking, baking, cleaning and playing games and just generally making her home “gezellig”. Her life revolved around loving her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be lovingly remembered for her passion for praying for her family – the desire of her heart was that they would all serve the Lord (3John:4)

Wilhelmiena will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Gerda (Herman) Wilbrink, Ken (Margaret) Both, Jenny (Henry) Jansen, Gary (Jane) Both (all of Chilliwack), 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also left to remember her are her brother, Marinus (Corrie) Roos Chilliwack and sister in law, Sytje Roos, Agassiz; brothers, Gerrit (Jo), Teunis (Tinie), Wim (Jopie) Roos and brother-in-law, Wim Both ; sister, Nel (Niek) Rensen and sister-in-law Cor Both and their families, all in the Netherlands, and many nephews and nieces. She is sadly predeceased by her beloved husband Teunis; brothers, Cor (of the USA) and Klaas (of Agassiz); sisters, Jans, Gien, Aantje, and Corrie, all of whom resided in the Netherlands.

An evening of Condolences will be held on Thursday, November 25, beginning at 7:00 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack

A Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 10:00 am at Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation; 8920 Broadway Street, Chilliwack, Rev. P Van Ruitenburg officiating. Graveside at Chilliwack Cemetery will follow the Church Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilhelmiena’s name may be made to Timothy Christian School.
