It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Weldon Albert Grigg on March 20, 2011 in Victoria, BC, at the age of 88.

Weldon was born in Chilliwack, BC, on August 27, 1922, where he began a career in farming. He met and married Janet Longman in 1949 and together raised five children.

The family moved to Cowichan Bay, BC, in 1969 and founded GroWell Potting Soil. Weldon and Janet retired to Victoria in 1984 and travelled extensively in their later years.

Weldon was predeceased by his wife Janet in 2008 and is survived by his five children – Sandra, Hazel, Murray (Jenny), Neville (Kimberly) and Laurence (Kathy). He also leaves six grandchildren – Lance, Neil, Katrina, Liam, Sierra and Logan – and his sister Bernice (Morley) Rendall.

Weldon was an author and an avid fisherman. He lived a full life, loved people and will always be remembered for his wit, generosity and Christian faith.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 1:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Chapel, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack, BC, followed by a burial ceremony at Little Mountain Cemetery.
