Walter Zayik of Chilliwack BC passed away comfortably in Cascade Hospice with his wife by his side.
Chilliwack businesses lost their most avid and discerning bargain shopper on this day!
Walt is remembered for being friendly and happy, talking, at length, to everybody he met and lecturing his kids and grandkids to save their money. He loved being outside. Gardening was a business for 40 years and then turned into his most enjoyable past time. His gardening knowledge put google to shame. As well as "greenhousing " Walt worked with The Forestry Service Engineering Division and BC Hydro when he was younger. He thoroughly enjoyed all of his old friends/co-workers and stayed in touch with them to reminisce.
Grampa/dad will be remembered for teaching us to smell the flowers, yes literally, smell the flowers, disappearing right before dinner, garlic sandwiches and making sure we had a "grampa clean" plate.
Walt is survived by his wife; Louise, son; Stuart (Beth), daughter; Brenda (Tim), granddaughter; Danica (Ryan), grandson; Daryl (Tori), granddaughter; Payton, great grandsons; Carson and Jace. As well as a large number of extended family that treasure him so very much.
At his request, no service will be held.
A special Thank you to Catherina at Chilliwack Primary and Community Care for guiding us through and all of the nurses that provided first rate care. As well, a special Thank you to all of our nurses and volunteers at Cascade Hospice.
Donations may be sent to Chilliwack Hospice Society 7112 Vedder Rd., Chilliwack, BC V2R 3T6
