Nov. 13, 1933 – Aug. 17, 2006
After a brief bout with cancer, it is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Walter (Wally) Rychly, a cherished father, loving husband and friend, on Aug. 17, 2006 at the age of 72.
Walter was predeceased by his oldest son Tom and brother Peter . He is survived by his wife Marion of 53 years, sons Wayne (Debbie) of Edmonton, Dave of Winnipeg, three granddaughters, Santana (Chris) of Grand Prairie, Amber (Brian) of Chilliwack, Sarah (Randy) of Edmonton and four great-g randchildren Austin, Madison & Ashley of Grand Prairie and Gracie of Edmonton. He is also survived by his sister Mary of Edmonton and brother Ben (Alice) of Surrey, Sister In-law Ella of Vernon, Daughter In-law Gwen of Grand Prairie, Brother/Sister In Law Jim and Judy Sinclair of Chilliwack and many nieces and nephews.
Wally worked in the mines in Red Lake before joining the Armed Services in London Ontario in 1953 at the age of 19, where he met and wed his wife of 53 years. He spent 26 years in the Forces, serving two tours in Germany with wife and family and one tour in Cypress before retiring from the Armed Forces, and continued working at CFB Chilliwack as a cook prior to his full retirement in 1993.
Wally had a wry sense of humour and quick wit that would put a smile on the face of anyone around him and which will be deeply missed.
Though now gone, but will never be forgotten, you will live forever in our hearts.
Marion and family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hurst for his care, compassion and support. A special thanks also goes out to all the people from Homecare for their kind and loving care while he was ill.
Last but not least many thanks to all our friends and neighbours for the great support they gave to Wally and family.
No service will be held at deceased requests. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
