September 30, 1942 - May 21, 2019
Walter Allen Davis, of Chilliwack, passed away on May 21, 2019. Born Sep 30, 1942 in Stewiacke, NS, he was the son of the late Earl and Bessie (Taylor) Davis. He worked in Dartmouth NS as a Welder until he joined the Army in 1960. He had postings to CFB Gagetown, 4 Fd Sqn, Werl, and retired as a Sergeant from CFS Baldy Hughes, where he was then employed with Roads and Grounds, and later with Base Maintenance Section at CFB Chilliwack, retiring again in 1997.
He endured many surgeries and health concerns from then on, but never lost his sense of humour and zest for life. He was a true inspiration to anyone who knew him. Wally, also known as Big Buddha, had many interests - fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, curling, was a wonderful dancer, and loved music, playing guitar and singing. He had a soft spot for animals and they seemed to like him in return.
He loved his family dearly. He was predeceased by siblings Carl and Sally Ann, John, Bernard, and Robert. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bev, daughter Monica (Dennis) Veer, son Todd (Teresa) Davis, sister Jane Ivany (Henry Delorey), grandchildren Conor and Sierra Davis, Hayley and Sydney Veer.
Special thanks to Doctors Greg Lewis, Susan Cooper, Thomas Hopkins, Thomas Nel, and the nurses of the Abbotsford Kidney Clinic for their care and kindness, good friends Donna and Gord Craig and Shelly Hansom for their friendship and support, as well as our kind neighbours for their help and concern.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home 1pm Tues, June 11, 2019. Reception to follow. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
