Waldemar (Walter) Schubert passed away suddenly on March 22, 2005 in Chilliwack General Hospital.
Predeceased by his father, Waldemar Senior (1983), Walt is survived by his mother, Elizabeth, his daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Brad Peters and two beautiful grandchildren, Faith and Paige, as well as aunts and cousins.
Walt was born on September 18, 1946 in Delmenhorst, Germany. Walt and his family immigrated to Canada in the year of 1951 and have resided in the town of Chilliwack since then. After graduating from Chilliwack Senior High School in 1965, Walt worked alongside his father at Schubert Construction. Following the passing of Waldemar Senior, Walt made a career change and began working with Corrections Canada in the maintenance department.
In his spare time Walt enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and the great outdoors; as well as bowling, golfing and other recreational activities. Walt also had a passion for hot rods and sports cars, many of which he owned and often entered into car shows. He was extremely proud of his mother, daughter and son-in-law and cherished the time spent with them and his new grandchildren. Walt was well known in the community, enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A celebration of Walt’s life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 9460 Charles St. in Chilliwack on Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2005 at 11:30 a.m.
Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory would be appreciated to a charity of choice.
