Ruth was born in Portsmouth, England and grew up in Barry, Wales.
There she met John Taylor and they were married on Sept. 9, 1950. Shortly thereafter they emigrated to Canada, initially setting in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where they had relatives, and built their own house. John then joined the Armed Forces and they had two children...Barry in 1954 and Cindy in 1957.
They lived in Chilliwack, Germany, and Petawawa Ont., before finally moving back to the Chilliwack area for retirement....which was actually quite a period of activity....they built another house.
Growing up with an appreciation of traveling always stayed with Ruth and family. After the kids moved out, summers were spent camping and fishing and winters were spent in Arizona. In between these seasons, was their love of resorts and cruises all over the world. There they could be found holding court on the dance floor as Ruth and John were formidable dancers to say the least.
Ruth was a very talented person with a wry sense of humour that stayed with her to the end. She was a professional level seamstress/knitter and her sweaters were highly coveted. She made most of her own clothes and always had a well equipped sewing room that was her "space".
After John`s passing in 2008, Ruth moved into Chartwell Lynwood until her body started to deteriorate and then moved to Valleyhaven where she passed peacefully. In her last years she loved to sing with the residents choirs and rekindled her joy of painting.
The family gives many many thanks and hugs to the staff at Lynwood and more recently the entire resident staff and team at Valleyhaven, as well as the musical/artistic/physical/mental therapists that would visit the facility.
Since Ruth`s passing we know she has been reunited with John and forever will dance on the clouds.
