Vernia CHERRINGTON

March 17, 2007

Vernia Cherrington passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19th after a long battle with cancer.

She was born June 18, 1943 in Aberdeen Scotland.

She lived in South Africa from 1973 to 1975. It was while she lived there that she wrote poetry, which was later published into her book “The Part I Play”.

Vernia returned to Aberdeen to live and in 1977 she met and married her soul mate Bill. In 1982, after spending many years working abroad, they decided to settle in Chilliwack and started their trucking company “Verbil Transport” which they operated for 23 years. She was the bookkeeper for their company and also did volunteer bookkeeping for the Atchelitz Women’s Insitute as well as the Sardis Baptist Church which she and Bill attended.

Despite her battle with cancer Vernia had an optimistic outlook on life and her caring and thoughtful ways were evident to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband Bill, four step-children, eight grandchildren, a sister, brother and nieces and nephews who are still living in Scotland.

A memorial service was held for her on March 22 at the Chilliwack Alliance Church.
