Verne Duane ALLEN

September 11, 2003

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Verne Duane Allen on Sept. 11, 2003 in Chilliwack, B.C. Verne was born on May 26, 1936 in Quesnel, B.C.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Christiana, daughters Debra (Joseph) Kendall, Cheryl McIntyre, Heather (Jim) Larke, Lisa Allen, stepsons Marc (Maggie) Laynes, Jason (Kathy) Laynes and Justin (Teresa) Laynes, brother Art (Sandra) Allen, as well as nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, mother and grandson Jason.

Verne started his driving career at the age of 14, prior to obtaining a proper licence! He enjoyed his driving career (with a licence) immensely and continued for over 50 years. He drove for various companies but never enjoyed it more than when he owned the “Silver Bullet” while working for Herman Sawmill Ltd.

Verne enjoyed his fishing trips on the Fraser River, weekends at the cabin and was looking forward to traveling with the 5th wheel. Verne is sadly missed by his faithful companion, Rundy.

Memorial service will be on Thursday, September 1, 2003 at 2:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home. Verne’s final resting place will be at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain.
