Velvette (Vel) Anne Culpepper (nee Hiebert) was born in Chilliwack on August 26, 1953 and passed away peacefully on February 27, 2003 after a valiant 10 year battle from cancer, fought with dignity, courage and determination.
Vel is survived by her loving family, son Dallas; daughter Mandy (Keith) Morrison; and grandson Brett; brother Gordon Hiebert (Marg); sister Sharon (Doug) Davies; and nieces and nephews.
Vel is predeceased by her parents Al and Frieda Hiebert.
Vel’s many interests included her computer and surfing the web for angel poems and spiritual literature, beading, reading, sewing, going shopping, and Tim Hortons coffee.
Vel’s children knew their mom as a strong remarkable woman who stayed in charge of her life to the end and rallied on so she could enjoy one more day doing what she enjoyed the most, living and laughing. Vel always kept her sense of humour.
Vel was surrounded by pictures of her family and friends, and fond memories of her life in Hawaii. Vel loved collecting angels and stuffed gorillas.

A Celebration of Vel’s Life will be held at Carman United Church, Thursday, Mar. 6, 2003 at 12 noon.
Henderson’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chilliwack Hospice Society, or In Memory of Vel Culpepper - an Education Fund in Trust for Brett Morrison (grandson).
