Tom Gieg passed away on Sunday, July 12 at Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack, B.C. Tom was born on Feb. 6, 1924 in Lang, Saskatchewan.

After serving with the RCAF during the war, he moved to the Chilliwack area and soon after started working for Don Lange Jewelers. Eventually, he became owner, and expanded to five stores. Shortly thereafter, with assistance and guidance of Birks, he became president of O.B. Allen Jewelers and opened stores across Canada from Victoria to St John’s. Newfoundland.

In the earlier years, Tom loved to hunt birds in the prairies with his best friend Bill Davies, and their faithful hunting dogs Link and Tim. In retirement, with his loving wife Alma by his side, he travelled to various corners of the world, always checking out what golfing experiences could be had. In winter months they settled as snowbirds in Palm Desert, California, only to return to their lovely home on Cultus Lake. Tom also loved to fish, and spent many a memorable day fly-fishing at their cottage at Chain Lake.

Tom is survived by his only son Blake Gieg, Brothers; Phil, Grant, Jack, Blake, Floyd; Sisters Edna and Janet; Sisters-in-law Marlene, Joyce, Fay, Marion, Merle, Jean; Brother-in-law Rod, and countless nieces and nephews.

Tom touched the hearts of all he met. He was noted as being the kindest man as one could meet, always compassionate and wanting to bend an ear to listen. He will be truly missed by all.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the Chilliwack Golf and country club, 41894 Yale Rd. on Wednesday, July 22th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. If you wish memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation of British Columbia.
