Tietje passed away on Sept. 15, 2013 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 94 years old. She was born June 5, 1919 in Nijega, The Netherlands. Tietje is survived by her sons John (Nola), Harry and Arnold (Christine), daughters Helen Karr (Herb), Hilda Skillen, Louise Van Apeldoorn (Adrian), Joanne Andre (David), 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, her brother Haaije Pijl, and many dutch relatives in The Netherlands. She was predeceased by her parents, Wyberen and Hiltje Pijl (Spoolstra), husband John, her sons Bill and Ernest, infant daughter Tietje and her brother, Oene Pijl. A viewing for family and friends will be held on September 20, 2013 at 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home. A Funeral will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home Chapel on September 21, 2013 at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Chilliwack Cemetery at 10:00am.
A reception will be held at the family residence #12-9420 Woodbine St., at 12:00 noon. Tietje was a devoted wife and mother, raising her 9 children. She loved knitting, baking, gardening and reading. Henderson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. 604-792-1344.
