June 25, 1924 - January 14, 2019
After a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease, Thor passed away peacefully in his sleep at Heritage Village. Thor is survived by his wife Joy; son Greg Andreassen; brother Ralph Andreassen (Elaine); step-children Darlene Harris (Gary), Diane Bridge (Daryl), Dan Whalley (Collette); 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughters Wanda Marais and Susan Fourchalk; brothers Kjell Andreassen and Mark Andreassen; sisters Bjorg Colquhoun and Ruth Windrim.

Thor was born in Norway, the 2nd of 6 children. His family emigrated to Canada when Thor was 4 years old, settling first in Shaunovan, Sask., then to the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver, B.C. Thor apprenticed as a meat cutter, eventually owning his own meat market on Victoria Drive in Vancouver. After selling it in 1973 he spent the rest of his working life at Rheem Canada retiring in 1989.

Thor and Joy were married in 1973 and moved to Langley, and upon Thor's retirement moved to Yarrow. We really enjoyed those first retirement years travelling to Arizona for part of the winter, and spending as much time as possible at our cabin on Sheridan Lake. Many seasons were spent at the cabin creating fond memories with family and friends. We eventually sold the cabin and enjoyed many camping trips around B.C.

Thor went into full time care in 2011, first at Bradley Centre and the last years at Heritage Village. We cannot thank the staff enough for the wonderful, loving, compassionate and kind care Thor has received in the last 7 years. Thank-you friends and family for your prayers, love and support all these years. Thor loved the Lord and now is home with his Heavenly Father. He was much loved and will be sadly missed.
