Thomas James CAMPBELL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad. Thomas Campbell passed away Dec. 29, 2008 unexpectedly with family by his side in Chilliwack General Hospital.

Thomas will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his children Cory (Bonnie) Campbell, Wenona (Troy) Guilderson, Cameron (Tina) Campbell; grandchildren Lindsay, Vanessa, Taylor, Hayden, Dawson and Dylan; sisters Margaret and Sadie, brother-in-law Dennis Truber and sister-in-law Jan Truber, as well as nieces and nephews in both Canada and Scotland. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years Randi Campbell, twin brother Kenny Campbell, his mom Mary Campbell and father William Campbell.

Thomas was born in Garvin, Scotland, September 22, 1933. He was in the British Army with the 1st BTN Royal Scots where he served in Egypt as peace keeper from 1954 to 1956. He immigrated to Canada in 1957. This is where he met his wife Randi. They married in Penticton in 1960 and made Vancouver their home for the next 20 years. He was actively involved in with the Army and Navy Veterans Kingsway Unit #100 and the Masonic Lodge Vancouver #68 for over 25 years, Thomas worked for Correctional Service of Canada in the maintenance department for 24 years.

When he was not involved with his volunteering duties, he was found in many cold arenas and wet soccer fields enjoying his children’s sports. In 1980 Tom and his family moved to Chilliwack, B.C. Tom again became involved with Anavets #305, where he also served as Command President from 1993 to 1994. After retiring, Tom enjoyed traveling, social events, and spending time with his grandchildren in addition to never missing a Canucks or Bluejays game. Tom’s family and friends will forever remember him for his generosity, humour and compassion, and will miss hearing “Tom Campbell here”.
