Thelma Linnea Maria Bowett, late of Glenwood Care Home, Agassiz, B.C. passed away August 21, 2005 at the age of 89 years. She was born Nov. 4, 1915 in Vancouver, B.C.
Thelma, her husband Cecil and family moved from Burnaby, B.C. to Agassiz in 1947. They operated a general store for 10 years then built and operated the Super-Valu store until 1969. After retirement, she continued her community involvement with the Rebecca Lodge, Red Cross Loan Cupboard, Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association (life member), the United Church Board of Stewards and Sunday School. Her hobbies over the years included sewing, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, bingo and gardening. Her family was a very important part of her life and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 1:30 pm in the Agassiz United Church, the Reverend Neill McRae officiating. Cremation, Henderson’s Crematorium.
She will be lovingly remember and sadly missed by her son Allan (Pat), daughters Carol (Ian “Bunk”) Mackay and Sandra Bowett; grandchildren, Doug (Lynne) Mackay, Bruce (Bonnie) Mackay, Laurie (Martin) Hughes, Christine Heal (Kevin Wallgrove), Jennifer Heal (Michael Hurley), Diane Heal (Scott Byhre), Charles Bowett and Daisy Bowett; great-grandchildren, Lisa Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Anthony Mackay, Lorry Mackay, Lucas Mackay, Ethan Mackay, Eileen Wallgrove, Sabia Hurley and Erica Byhre; sisters-in-law Lorna Lunde and Mildred Bowett; also nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Cecil in 2001, also brother Allan Lunde and brother-in-law Roy Bowett.
In lieu of flowers, donation to the B.C. Children’s Hospital or the Agassiz United Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
