Tanya Renee JONES

June 4, 2004

October 9, 1971 - June 4, 2004

Tanya passed away on June 4, 2004 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. Tanya was only 32 years old, she fought a brief, but very courageous battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, after being affected by HIV disease for many years.

Tanya married Tim in 1992, and she went on to enjoy every minute of every day for the rest of her life. She set out to make a difference in this world and had a lot of living to do over the next 12 years. Tanya canvassed for several charities including Canadian Blind, Cancer Society, Missing Children, HIV and AIDS Society in 1995. She also travelled to Alberta schools to teach students about HIV and AIDS awareness.

Tanya and Tim made a home in Rosedale, which they shared with their dog Amy Lou and their four cats. Tanya attended school in Squamish and moved to the Fraser Valley in 1990, living in Hope for two years, then on to Chilliwack, where she spent the rest of her life.

Tanya loved the outdoors, it was her freedom, planting flowers and vegetables in her garden, fishing and camping at Cultus Lake, walking her dogs along the Fraser River at Island 22.

Survived by her loving husband Tim Jones; her parents, Douglas and Carolyn Thompson; her two brothers, Ryan Thompson (26) and Bradley Thompson (17); and her dear friend Michelle Wallace, all of Chilliwack. Also her father Brian Sharpe; and her grandmother Eleanor Davis, both of North Vancouver.

Tanya we will always love you. This is not goodbye, we will see you in Heaven our dear girl!.

Funeral at Chilliwack United Church, June 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. Reverend Michael Hare officiating. Burial by cremation. Graveside services to be held at Chilliwack Cemetery. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to B.C. P.W.A. Society, Vancouver, B.C.
