Tadeusz (Ted) Janischewski passed away at home in Sardis on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at the age of 80 years. He was born May 7, 1922 in Wloclawek, Poland.
Ted is survived by his wife Else; children, Ted (Trudi), Eleanor (John), Ron (Rita), Rita (Don), and Vic (Lyla); grandchildren, Sonja, Amanda, Brent, Steven, Beverly (Darren), Christine, Sherry, Mike, Darren, Darlene, Richard, David, Tara, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy; and one sister Antonina.
He was predeceased by his brother John; and his sister Sofia.
Ted and Else met in Germany in 1945, and were married the next year. They immigrated to Canada in 1948, and settled in Greendale. Ted worked for Orion Bowman and Sons Sawmill, and farmed in Greendale. After retiring, Ted and Else moved to Sardis, and enjoyed travelling and spending time with the grandchildren. Ted also loved watching sports, especially hockey.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at First Mennonite Church, 42369 South Sumas Rd., Chilliwack. Pastor Phillip C. Wheaton will officiate. Interment will follow at Vedder View Gardens Cemetery in Sardis.
Pall bearers will be Brent Janischewski, Steve Wiersema, John Wiersema, Ted Janischewski, Ron Janischewski, and Vic Janischewski.
