Sylvia passed away on October 8, 2019 after a long, healthy life of almost 103 years. She was predeceased by both her husbands, Eric Fryer and Kenneth Chisholm, two older brothers (Lawrence and Ed Smith), and two younger sisters (Violet Hoffos and Pat Lawrence).
She will be forever loved and missed by her children- Barbara Critchley, Brian Fryer, Garry (Betty Ann) Fryer,Wendy (Bruce) Hampton. Also remembered by 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Ed Lawrence and the extended Chisholm family.
Sylvia was born on a homestead near Radville SK, and graduated as an RN from the Regina General Hospital in 1941. She headed west to Port Alberni, BC where she continued her nursing and married Eric in 1943. Sylvia was a supportive military wife and a nurse on the maternity ward of the Chilliwack General Hospital during the 1950's.
After Eric's untimely death in 1983 she remained in Chilliwack, married Ken in 1990 and enjoyed her golden years. Sylvia was a mother who valued family above all else and took great pride in her home and garden.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Cascade Hospice for their compassionate care during Sylvia's last days, and to the wonderful staff of the Birchwood Retirement Residence, Sylvia's home over the last 7 years.
