Sylvester Joseph (Jim/Joe) PITTS

(February 28, 1919 - March 8, 2003)

Syl passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife of 55 years at his side.

Syl was born in New Glasgow, N.S. He served with the Royal Canadian Medical Corp during the Second World War. He was stationed in England and saw action in France and Germany.

After the war he transferred from the Medical Corp to the Royal Canadian Engineers. He retired from the Canadian Army as a cook in 1969 in Chilliwack.

Syl and his family relocated to Hope, where he worked at Ryan’s Restaurant and the Coquihalla Camp Site.

Syl enjoyed carpentry, fishing, assembling model airplanes, ships and cars; and feeding the wild birds outside his trailer porch.

Syl is survived by his loving wife Doris; son Ron (Angela) of Nanaimo; daughter Tina (Mike) of Hope; grandchildren, Melanie, Jeremy, Michael, Sean-Robert and Angel; plus close family friends, Julie, Dianne and Matthew.

Cremation, and no service by request.
