Susanna (Susan) Hoekstra was born on February 3rd, 1933 in Sint Nicolaasga, Friesland, Netherlands. She passed away peacefully in Chilliwack General Hospital on September 14th, 2018 at the age of 85.
Susan was predeceased by her son Marcel, April 30th, 2010. Susan is survived by her loving husband Willem (Bill) of 56 years, daughters, Rosemary (Scott) McColl of Coquitlam, BC, Elaine Hoekstra of Chilliwack, BC, son Neil (Lesley) Hoekstra of Surrey, BC, and grandchildren Tyler, Caitlin, Nicholas, and Megan.
Susan immigrated to Canada after her marriage to Bill where she lived in the Vernon/Lumby area of BC, then living in Kitimat, BC, where she raised their family until Bill's retirement. Settling in Chilliwack, BC, she took on an active role in the Rainbow Estates Community where they lived as well as the Rainbow Sam's RV Club.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday September 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Rainbow Estates Clubhouse on 9055 Ashwell Rd., Chilliwack, BC. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Susan may do so to the Parkinson's Society in lieu of flowers.
