HEWARD, Susan Maria (nee Bury)

March 29, 1956 - October 7, 2016

It is with great sorrow, unbearable pain and heartache that we had to say goodbye to our caring, loving, selfless, strong and beloved Mom, wife, daughter, sister and aunt on October 7, 2016. She bravely passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital after fighting cancer for over 3.5 years.

Susan was born to Clara and John Bury in Chilliwack, BC. She grew up and lived in Chilliwack her whole life. She started working for the TD Bank at a young age and put in over 30 years of service. Susan met her life partner and husband at school. They were married on Sept. 1, 1984. Together they bought their first home that they resided in for over 30 years. They began their family in 1985 and had 6 children.

Susan dedicated almost all of her life to her family. She was always putting others before herself. She always wanted to help out in any way she could. Susan loved those dear to her very much and her children were everything to her. She attended every game, recital, practice, ceremony, etc. for each and every one of her children. She made sure she was always there whenever anyone needed her. Susan loved music and singing since she was young. She passed this passion on to many of her children and grandchildren. Susan loved playing and spending time with her 5 grandchildren. She made so many great memories with them and those memories will be cherished forever. Susan enjoyed the laughs & get togethers she shared with many of her dear friends. She was very thankful to all those who helped her through this tough journey. Susan leaves behind her life partner and husband, Harold, of 32 years and their 5 children- Shalane (Dustin), Brendan (Donna), Trevor (Teala), Colton and Kyden. She also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren, her Mom, her sisters and brothers and many nieces and nephews. Rest in Peace and dance/sing with your baby girl! She is predeceased by her daughter Skye Heward and her father John Bury. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23rd at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Hall. If you desire, you may make a donation to the B.C. Cancer Society.
