Stephen Rainer SCHOEFFEL

December 31, 2006

Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin, Stephen Rainer Schoeffel passed away suddenly on December 31, 2005 due to a motor vehicle accident near Harrison Lake.  He was 32 years of age.

Born March 3, 1973 in Edmonton, Alberta, Stephen soon developed into a bright, inquisitive, happy young man.  Stephen attended school in Chilliwack and graduated from Sardis Secondary School with Honors standing in 1991.

Stephen was a member of a very close family and of an extended family in the congregation of the New Apostolic Church.  He was very involved in his church.  He was an accomplished, inspiring organist and sang in the church choir.  Stephen was also very active in the leadership and organization of youth activities.

After exploring several career and job directions, Stephen decided to begin a journeyman electrician’s apprenticeship.  His talents were well employed in this trade and he was very enthused about his work.

In his free time, Stephen enjoyed the out of doors.  He often participated in CB radio contests and four wheel drive outings.  In the fall, hunting trips with his father and grandfather were a much anticipated and well-researched delight.  At picnics with family and friends, he would play the guitar and sing an incredible number of tunes (with complete 3rd and 4th verses) in both English and German.

But Stephen’s greatest pleasure came from interacting with people.  He had many friends in all age groups and made sure that he maintained his connections with everyone.  He made a point of seeking out opportunities to talk to family, friends and acquaintances on a regular basis.  He was deeply concerned about issues that affected those that he knew.  His smiles and humour were invigorating and contagious.

Stephen will be always loved and missed by his father, Rainer, his mother, Christine, his brother, Christopher and grandfather, Hermann Bremer, as well as his uncles, Gerd (Angela) Schoeffel, Manfred (Margaret) Schoeffel and his aunts, Marianne Jerry, Inge (Robert) Trueman, Evelyn Bremer, Waltraud (Leonard) Lumpe, Christel Schoeffel and his cousins, Carolynne (Ira) Laughy, Michael (Kristen) Jerry, Tania (Chad) Grover, Kristin Trueman, Andrew Trueman, Mark (Sharon) Schoeffel, Kirk Schoeffel, Anita Fedorak, Glenn (Rachel) Schoeffel, Tracy (Jason) Christensen and Derrick Schoeffel, Marion (Alain) Labrie, Thomas Schoeffel and Sabine (Hartmut) Lange, as well as by a great number of friends.

Stephen was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Liselotte Bremer and his paternal grandparents Alfred (Augustine) Schoeffel and his uncle Hans Schoeffel and his cousin Ronald Lumpe.

A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Henderson’s in Chilliwack on Saturday, January 7th, 2006 at 1:00 pm  Internment will be at Vedder View Cemetery on Watson Road.  If friends so desire, donations may be made to the New Apostolic Church Youth Fund, c/o G.
