On August 7, 2010 our lovely Sonia passed away peacefully at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, BC.
Born February 12, 1934 in Liverpool, England to George and Edith Currie. Sonia lived an adventurous life with her soulmate Bernard, who she married on September 7, 1955. In 1957, Bernie and Sonia took a giant leap and immigrated to Canada, settling finally in North Vancouver, where they raised their 3 children, Elaine (Tony), Elizabeth (Ernie) and Graham (Justine). Her life was filled with great joy spending endless hours of fun with her eight grandchildren, Tya, Curtis, Kynan, Jordan, Chad, Cordane, Leigha and Connor, who all love her to pieces. In addition to her husband Bernie and family, Sonia is also survived by her two nieces, Louise (Jim) and Kathy (Sten) and their children Hailey, Ryan, Kimberly and Jacob, as well as extended family in England. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Elaine and brother-in- law, Vernor, in 2006. Sonia had a great sense of humour and a zest for life that followed her to the end.
In true Sonia fashion, an open house celebration of her life will be held on August 29, 2010 between 3pm – 7pm at The Falls Golf Club, Villa #106, 51096 Falls Court, Chilliwack, BC. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
A special thank you to the team of doctors, nurses and support staff that assisted Sonia during her final journey.
