Sister Teresa DESLAURIER

Sister Teresa Deslaurier died peacefully on April 25, 2007 at The Waverly, Chilliwack, BC. Born in Vancouver, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Marsh) and Calixte Deslaurier.

She recently celebrated 70 years as a Sister of Charity-Halifax.

Sister’s ministries included being receptionist, childcare worker, electrologist, seam–stress, hairdresser, sacristan and organist in Nova Scotia, New York, Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec.

Among her loves were her family, Sisters of Charity, people who are in need, the earth, the oceans, and flowers.

Teresa is survived by her brother Sylvester, and nieces: Marie (Neil) Calver, Therese Sokolowski, Rosemary (Les) Blank, Carmen (Dave) Peat, Catherine Johnson, Margaret-Rose Ackerman, Cynthia (Tom) Deslaurier, and nephews: Gerard (Elizabeth) Sokolowski, Joseph (Rosa) Ackerman, Paul Ackerman, Phillip (Ruth) Ackerman, David (Teresa) Deslaurier, Paul (Teresa) Deslaurier and their children and grandchildren, and her brother-in-law Gerry Sokolowski.

She was predeceased by her sisters Agnes, Margaret, Sister Catherine, her brother Joseph and nephews, Johnny and Christopher.

You are invited to prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Saint Mary’s Church and the Funeral Mass, Father Paul Than Bui celebrant, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Saint Mary’s Church, Mary Street, Chilliwack.
