Shirlie was born in Saint John, Brunswick, On December 16, 1932. She was the oldest child with 12 younger siblings in the family. She was promoted to glory with her love for, her Lord,
Jesus Christ in her heart, on October 16, 2021 from Glenwood Care Centre in Agassiz, BC.
She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Arnold Caruk; 4 adult children, Gordon (Shirley), Sharon (Tom), Stuart (Anita), and Leanne (Brian), as well as 6 grandchildren; Matthew, Amanda, Brent, Beth, Lucy and Victoria, and 3 great grandchildren Andrew, Arielle and Rosalyn as well as many nieces and nephews.
Shirlie and Arnold served as Salvation Army Officers from Northern British Columbia to Newfoundland. She was also an avid reader until she entered Glenwood. She was involved with
Toastmasters and achieved the highest award they offer, Distinguished Toastmaster. She served as a Cheer Kettle Coordinator for The Salvation Army in Chilliwack, BC. Shirlie will be sadly missed, but our loss is heaven's gain.
A Memorial Service in her honor will be held at the Salvation Army, 46420 Brooks Avenue, Chilliwack, BC on October 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm. There will opportunities to watch the service through the Salvation Army website.
