(nee Gaultier)

Sherry Porcina was surrounded by family when she left us suddenly on August 18, 2011, leaving an empty space in this world that will never be filled.

Sherry was born in Winnipeg, MB to Gerald and Pauline Gaultier on September 3, 1967. She grew up under the wide, blue sky of Stoney Mountain, MB with her siblings Marc, Nicole, and Gilles, and enjoyed the love and attention of her grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family moved to Chilliwack, BC in 1980. Sherry graduated from CSS in 1985 along with her high school sweetheart and future husband, Danial Porcina. They married on July 16, 1988, and after a short stint in Calgary, AB, they returned to Chilliwack to make a life together.

In 1990, Sherry gave birth to their first son, Christopher Allan Porcina. That was followed by the joyous addition of Steven Gerald Porcina four years later on September 26, 1994.

Sherry was a mother first, and always put her children before herself. She loved them and guided them on their way to manhood as only she could. She was always involved with school PAC and sporting events. Sherry was proud to be known as Mom of the Running Backs “28’s” within the Chilliwack Giants Football organization, to which she contributed and participated until present day.

She worked data entry at Slocan for a few years before becoming the Controller, Accounts Receivable at Fred’s Custom Tackle. This is where Sherry would be known within the business community for her outstanding integrity and commitment to excellence.

Sherry was a loving and encouraging wife, and the most supportive person you could ever meet. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at Lion’s Gate Hospital for their care and compassion.

A ceremony to celebrate the unforgettable life of Sherry Porcina will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10 am.
