Shelly Myrna GIBSON

September 16, 2004

June 21, 1937-September 16, 2004

On September 16, 2004, at the age of 67, our beloved Shelly passed away in her sleep at Chilliwack General Hospital.

Born in Creston, B.C. in 1937, Shelly grew up in Vernon, B.C. where she lived until she began nurses training at the Royal Columbian Hospital in 1955. She began her nursing career in Burnaby, later moving onto Chilliwack General, where she began in the Emergency Room. Shelly later became a care coordinator - a position she truly enjoyed until the end of her career in 1991.

Predeceased by her father Thomas Gibson (1976) and her mother Beryl Gibson (2002).

Survived by her constant companion and friend of 16 years, Sandy Rooke. She also leaves behind her son Patrick Huband (Joanne); her daughter Cara Holmstrup (Chris); and her five grandchildren, Kristin, Erin and Logan Huband, and Christian and Samantha Holmstrup.

Shelly will be dearly missed by her family and friends, for she touched each of our lives in a very special, yet different way.

A very sincere thank you to Cindy Nicholl, the nurses of MSSU, and Dr. Fitzpatrick for their exceptional care, support, and kindness.

A funeral service was held at Henderson’s Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004.

If friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
