June 12, 1969 – August 23, 2021
Shelley Huitema-Ludlow was born in Chilliwack BC and spent most of her life living in this beautiful community. She started working in the family business at a young age helping her parents make ice cream, package milk products and sell those products in the farm store at Chilliwack Milk Maid.
She continued her sales career working for the Chilliwack Progress, Konings Wholesale, Sysco, Heinz Canada and finally as a Western Canada Regional Sales Manager with Apetito Canada. She married Ed Ludlow in 1997 after meeting him on the job and falling in love quickly. They have 2 beautiful successful daughters Megan and Kiera Ludlow.
Shelley had a passion for her family, gardening, outdoor adventures and business. She was extremely good at all of them. Shelley was active, creative and enjoyed travelling with Ed on many work trips to tropical locations for a little R&R.
In August 2012 Shelley suffered a brain hemorrhage that left her paralyzed and non verbal with her intelligence still intact. She battled hard for 9 years to see her girls grow into beautiful young intelligent women.
Shelley passed away on Monday August 23 peacefully at her care facility in Langley, Graceland Gates where she was deeply loved and cared for by attentive and talented staff.
Shelley is survived by her husband Ed of 24 years; her 2 daughters Megan and Kiera, her mother Wilhelmina Huitema, her siblings Ingrid Kerr (Tyler), Roger Huitema (Julie), Nicole Read (Brad) as well as 2 nephews and 3 nieces. She is predeceased by her father Jim Huitema.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday August 27th, 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Mary Street in Chilliwack.
