Sarah Ethel (nee Thompson) FORREST

Mrs. Sarah Ethel Forrest “Ethel” (nee Thompson), late of Abbotsford, BC, passed into the presence of her Lord on June 18, 2007 at the age of 95 at Bevan Lodge, Abbotsford, BC.

Ethel was the first of eight children born to Lillian and Alfred Thompson on July 19, 1911 in Bagot, Manitoba.

She married Robert Orvis Forrest in 1931 and they settled in Beaver, Manitoba for the majority of their working lives. They returned to Portage La Prairie in 1955 and Ethel came to reside in Abbotsford, BC in 1986 where she remained until her passing.

She enjoyed travelling and gardening in her retirement years and family and church were very important to her.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Earle (Myrna) of Chilliwack, BC and Winston Keith (Sharon) of Abbotsford, BC; siblings Frank Thompson and Pearl Young both of Winnipeg; five grandchildren: Murray (Teresa), Randy (Patsy), Steve (Barbarah), Daniel (Brenda) and Jeanette (Ken) Good; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Ethel was predeceased by her husband Robert Orvis in 1997, young son Clayton Douglas in 1944 and five siblings.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC with Major Lynda Richardson officiating.
