January 25, 1946 - August 1, 2019
Sandra passed away on August 1, 2019 at the age of 73.
She was born on January 25, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois to William and Geraldine Yates. She attended high school in St. Louis, Missouri; completed her undergraduate degree at DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana; and attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, where she received her Masters degree and became a registered psychologist.
She worked as a probation officer and psychologist for the Alberta Solicitor General's office for two decades, and later as a psychologist and counselor for employee assistance programs, the Edmonton Catholic School Board, and for the Women's Resource Society of the Fraser Valley.
Sandra was never more happy than when she was hosting friends and family for dinner, or working on quilts and other crafts. She had a joyous laugh and an open, kind heart, as evidenced by the many friends she made (and the many dogs she cared for) over the years. Although she lived in Canada most of her adult life, she was extremely fond of her home and enjoyed traveling there and to Hawaii for holidays.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Robert Janzen; her sons, Michael and Kevin Kimmis; her brother, William Yates and his wife Linda; and their son Bryan Yates and his family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Stephanie Yates.
Services will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Chilliwack, British Columbia at 11 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Memorials or donations may be made in her name to the church.
