May 30, 1949 – February 2, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we make this announcement on the passing of Sabine Marienburg o wonderful, caring and compassionate friend. Her friends, half sister Birgit and other relations who live in Germany will mourn her passing but will know that her suffering is now over. Born in Germany, Sabine immigrated to Canada in the 60’s. She lived in the lower mainland and relocated to Chilliwack some years ago. Here she worked in the photo lab of London Drugs where she did her job with the utmost proficiency and was a dedicated and reliable employee. Over the years Sabine had been a friend to many people and moreover to many many animals whom she cherished. Her devotion to all creatures great and small extended to several years of volunteering at the Chilliwack S.P.C.A. When she was not walking dogs she would be doing the laundry, washing dishes or seeing to the needs of kittens/cats and countless other animals. Sabine unstintingly gave of her time and her money to animal related causes. At the S.P.C.A. she comforted the animals, especially those who showed signs of stress. She loved helping at Paws for a Cause where she could be hands on with the many breeds of dogs that were entered in this fun event. Sabine was a caring and generous friend to many, a compassionate listener and always helped whenever she could. Grateful friends entrusted their beloved pets to her care when they went on holidays and she loved helping in this regard. She was known to unselfishly put the needs of animals ahead of anything else. Sabine was a rare and gentle gem and a champion for those who could not speak for themselves. Sabine had been retired for a number of years enjoying her pets and her volunteering activities until she was stricken with Dementia. She was moved to a long term care facility in Langley in 2019. Farewell dear friend; you earned your rest. You nor your great compassion and kindness towards animals will not be forgotten. No service by request but if so desired donations in Sabine’s name can be made to the Chilliwack S.P.C.A
