It is with peace and joy that we announce the Promotion to Glory of our mother, Ruth.
Mom was the second child of 10 children born to George and Ethel Gieg. Raised in Lang, SK; trained as an RV in Regina’s Gret Nuns Hospital; moved to Chilliwack in 1945 and raised three sons, George, Tom and Jim (Jake).
Ruth was active in church activities, volunteer service for residents of the Extended Care Unit; was Cub Akela of SA Pack #6, and Canadian Bible Society.
She enjoyed 20 retirement years by spending winters in Mesa, Arizona, still active in Salvation Army community projects there.
Mom specialized in knowing family genealogy, corresponding with many extended relatives.
Mom fulfilled her life-long dream of doing missionary medical work to Mexico, Balize, Equador, and enjoyed many cultures in her world travels.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by George and Margaret, Tom and Heidi, Jim and Mary; grandchildren: Rachel and Jacob; and two great-granchildren Emma and Jedidiah.
Memorial service is on Saturday, June 25, 2005, 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army Community Church, 46420 Brooks Ave, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
