Rudy Buch­witz passed away on April 24th, 2011 at Chilliwack, BC at age 81 years. He was born on August 13th, 1929 in Besarabia.

Rudy is survived by his son Gerald (Colleen) Buchwitz, and daughter Linda (Scott) Huffman, 3 grandsons Anthony Huffman, Darren Huffman and Logan Buchwitz, sister Emma Ruff, brother Ernst Buchwitz, and brother-in-law Otto Schmidt and their families who live in Germany.

He was predeceased by his wife Lucy in 2005, his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Rudy immigrated from Germany to Canada in 1949 at the age of 20. He met and married Lucy Schmidt at the Chilliwack Evangelical Missionary Church where they were both dedicated members. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2004. Rudy worked as a logger and after a logging accident as a custodian. He enjoyed his hobby farm, working at Charis Camp and travelling. After retirement he went on several working mission trips to South America, Africa, and Russia. He also loved camping in his truck and camper.

His family and friends will remember him as a cheerful, kind, and gentle person.

A Viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave., Chilliwack. Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 2nd, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Chilliwack Cemeteries, 10010 Hillcrest Drive, Chilliwack. A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Chilliwack Evangelical Church, “Charis Camp Fund,” or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
