OLISCHEFSKI; Ruby Elizabeth

January 26, 1937 ~ November 1, 2016

The world was a better place because of our precious Ruby who passed away on November 1, 2016 with her family by her side. Her family and friends meant everything to her. She was a loyal and loving friend, Mother and Grandmother. Ruby lived for her family. She is survived by her son Jim and daughter-in-law Pat Olischefski, her daughter Shirley and son-in-law Rod Draper, her grandchildren, Kirk and Tracy Olischefski, Julie Vander Kooi, Rhea and Al Morgan, and Shawn Draper, her great grandchildren, Kohen and Kendall Olischefski, Kaden Vander Kooi, Chris and Martina Draper, Dereck Draper, and two step-grandchildren, Dylan and Kylie Morgan. Ruby is also survived by her brother Jack and Faye Whenham and many nieces and nephews. Ruby had a special relationship with her niece, Kim Meier, who she thought of as a daughter and her cousin, Edith Ambrose, who were very close friends. Our world will never be the same without her bright smile, warm welcome, amazing hugs and loving spirit. Her Christmas card was the first card everyone received, usually by the end of November, just to remind us Christmas was coming. The hundreds of dishcloths she made that we all got to enjoy became her trademark. Her life is complete now and she has gone to be with the love of her life Carl who has waited 38 years for her to join him in Heaven. You will be greatly missed and forever loved! We are happy you have no pain and can walk and dance as much as you want. We want to thank the staff and residents of Lynnwood retirement home for making Mom's last 4 months of her life so wonderful. She felt like she was with family. She was given such a warm welcome. Everyone was so friendly.  She was so happy to have made so many friends in such a short time. She loved having her longtime friend Edna Eberle living at Lynnwood, and she quickly had her join her lady friends at her table, we refer to them as "the girls". She told us she felt like she had won the lottery getting to live there. We would like to thank Dr. Chow and his staff. She thought very highly of all of you. We appreciate the care you have given her over the years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ruby's name to BC Children's Hospital or BC Variety of Hearts. There will be a Tea in Ruby's Honour November 10th from 1 pm to 3 pm at Lynnwood Retirement Home (Billard Room, 9168 Corbould Ave, Chilliwack BC.
