Ruby was born in Merrit, BC to Malcolm and Anna Olson. She was raised in Merritt and graduated from the Merritt High School.
She met Bert Isaacs and they were married in Capilano, BC on Feb. 22, 1942. They spent the first five years of their marriage in Horsefly, BC. From there they moved to the Chilliwack area and had a dairy farm in Ryder Lake. They were the last ones from Ryder Lake to ship milk.
Their children Marilyn and Tom were born and raised there. Ruby was a 4H Jersey Club leader. She was a Ryder Lake Women’s Institute Life Member, belonged to the Sons of Norway, the Ostomy Group, enjoyed bowling, playing cards and travelling.
She had many friends that were very special to her, some she had known since childhood. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was proud of all of them.
Ruby worked at the Greyhound Bus Depot and at Halls Shoe repair store. She moved to Kelowna, BC in 2003 when she required nursing care. She was much loved and received wonderful care at Sun Pointe Nursing home.
Her daughter, Marilyn, was at her side when she passed away.
She is survived by her daughter: Marilyn (Bill) Allan, Winfield, BC; grandsons: Carson and Kyle; and son, Tom (Inge) Isaacs, Quesnel, BC; granddaughters: Anna, Laura and Irene. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Elota Olson and Audrey Isaacs; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
She is sadly predeceased by her husband Bert; brothers: Eric and Phillip Olson; sister: Pearl Wishoff and two infant children.
No Service by request. Her ashes will be buried in the Chilliwack Cemetery with her parents.
