Rose Alexandrina JONES (nee Sutherland)

Rose was born on 7 April 1928 in Dunoon, Scotland and lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s on Thursday, 14 April 2005 at Menno Home in Abbotsford where she died peacefully in her sleep. She was attended by family members.

She was predeceased in 2002 by Alfred, her husband of 56 years. Rose is survived by her sister Margaret (Burt) Houston of New Westminster and by her brother Ian.

She will be remembered forever by her sons John (Wanda) of Aldergrove, Doug (Ginger) of Chilliwack, Bruce (Shirley) of Langley, Kirk of Abbotsford and her 11 grandchildren and her great grand daughter.

Rose was a graduate of Burnaby South High School and worked as a retail clerk in Burnaby and New Westminster. She spent her married life in East Vancouver, Surrey and, upon retirement, moved to Texada Island and then to Chilliwack prior to her move to the Menno Home.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Menno Home for their kindness and care during Rose’s time of need.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, 25 April 2005 at 1:00 pm from the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford with Chaplin Dave Dick officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
