Rosalia Curylo, 90, late of 46947 Bailey Road, Sardis, passed away January 18th, 2010, in Eden Care Centre, Chilliwack, BC. She was born March 2nd, 1919, in Cygany, Poland.

She immigrated to Canada in 1930 with her parents and two brothers, settling in Magnolia, Alberta. In 1938, she married Joseph Curylo; they lived in Gossett and Yale, B.C., before settling on their dairy farm on Bailey Road, Sardis, BC. She lived there for the next 67 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 22nd, 2010, at 11 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack, BC, Reverend Reynaldo Usman, Celebrant. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A Viewing will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC on Thursday, January 21st, from 6-8 pm.

She is survived by her loving family; 3 children: Edward Curylo (Rose Marie), Surrey, Helen Shelford, Vancouver, Dr. Valerie Stevens (Rick Guenther), Chilliwack; 5 grandchildren: Alex Curylo, Vancouver, Daniel Curylo (Zoe), Vancouver, Dr. Tim Shelford, Ithaca, NY, Jeremy Shelford, Vancouver, and Mark Shelford, Ottawa; 2 great-grandchildren: Alima and Gemedi Curylo; 12 nieces and nephews: 3 in Canada, 9 in Poland.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Curylo, parents Michael and Anna Witek, brothers, John and Joseph Witek, and son-in-law, Dr. Jim Shelford.

For the dedicated care of Rosalia, the family extends heartfelt thanks to: Dr. Gordon Enns, the staff of Home Support Services, Parkholm Place, Eden Care Centre, and Henderson’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the University of British Columbia “James A. Shelford Memorial Scholarship Fund” which supports UBC graduate students in the study of agriculture.
