Rosa Barbara HARTER

August 20, 2002

Rosa Harter went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 and was surrounded by her family and the loving care of the nurses and staff at Eden Rest Home in Chilliwack.

This past February, she greatly enjoyed the celebration of her 100th birthday with her family and friends. Many came from great distances to attend her special honor!

She was born in Cathay, North Dakota, USA, on February 2, 1902. Then in 1924 she met and married Ralph Harter in Lavoy, AB. In 1939 they moved to BC where they farmed in the Chilliwack area.

She enjoyed working with her hands, crocheting and quilting, making a quilt for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mourning the loss of their dear mother are her four daughters, and their husbands: Eileen (George) Bihrer, Lynnwood, WA; Doris (Leonard) Cartmell, Chilliwack; Phyllis (Daniel) Kahn, Lynnwood, WA; Marjory (Percy) Priebe, Surrey; and son-in-law Herbert Bock, London, ON.

She was also loved by her 17 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. They will greatly miss their grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and her daughter Delphia Bock, and foster son, Fred Smith.

Friends will be received by the family from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Henderson’s Funeral Home.

A service of Celebration of Rosa’s life will be held on Monday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Community Church on Brooks Ave., Chilliwack.

Private family interment at Chilliwack Cemeteries, her grandson, Major Ron Cartmell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, should family and friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Gideons or the charity of your choice.
